Five bodies found along riverbank

TAXILA: Five bodies, two of which were in gunny sacks, were found along the banks of the Indus River in the Saddar police area in Attock on Tuesday.

Police sources said residents of the Dhok Khosha and Baghneelab villages, around 12 kilometres from Attock city, spotted the bodies and informed the police.

It took the police hours to shift the bodies to the hospital because there was no road through which they could approach the riverbank.

One of the deceased has been identified as 15-year-old Hamza Majid, the son of Nowshera resident Majid Khan, who has been missing for two months. His parents had registered an FIR with the Nowshera police about his disappearance.

The body of the deceased was handed over to family after a post-mortem and other legal formalities.

The identities of the remaining four deceased have not yet been ascertained, and autopsies of the four bodies were ongoing at the time this report was filed.

A case has been registered at the Attock Saddar police station, and further investigations have been initiated.
