Luck Pass gallops to Pakistan Day glory

KARACHI: Public fancy four-year-old bay colt Luck Pass galloped to a facile six-length victory over Lahore’s bay horse Beat The Clock to win The Pakistan Day Cup as favourites swept a four-race card of the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

This was second straight victory of the season for the 40 to 100 favourite colt. His last success came on March 5 over The King’s Hand in scale order III and IV that earned him promotion in top combined scale order I and II.

The victorious horse was ridden home by rider Sohail Ahmed and sent by trainer Shahid Mannan.

This was also the first appearance of the second-placed Beat The Clock on the course.

Beaten by head, Gold Horse grabbed third place ahead of Doctor who completed the board further beaten by head verdict among nine starters.

In the supporting event scale order III, IV and V, unknown chestnut mare Blue Fairy stretched her winning streak by getting the better of co-favourite mare Princess HKM by seven lengths.

Mare Sania Power was placed third beaten by a length-and-a-half while mare Sunshine completed the frame nine lengths further away.

At the outset, 40 to 100 favourite mare Salam Kashmir opened her season’s account imposing to a length and-a-quarter victory over the chestnut horse Race to land the opening race.

Sweet Sereena and Blue Flame followed the two horses in the same order.

Unknown pedigree bay horse Sayeen Jee obliged all and sundry by completing a hat-trick in the next race. The victorious horse beat mare Sea Gold as he pleased by 14 lengths in the start-to-finish bid.

New Hope seized third place followed by Sonia Again.
