‘Modern techniques helped check cheating in exam’

LAKKI MARWAT: Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Bannu chairman Jahandad Khan Marwat has claimed the use of modern techniques and technologies has helped check cheating in examinations.

He was talking to reporters after paying surprise visits to several centres of matriculation examination in government and private schools here on Friday.

The centre were set up at Faiz Model High School, Government Higher Secondary School No 3, Government Girl’s High School No 1, Government High School No 2 and Government Shaheed Mohammad Ghassan Khan Centennial Model High School in Lakki city and Government High School in Wanda Ameer village.

The BISE chairman said the installation of closed-circuit television cameras and latest equipment had helped ensure the effective invigilation in examination centres.

He said he was satisfied with the internal and external environments in and outside examination halls and that invigilators and resident inspectors should ensure that the matriculation examination is held in a transparent manner.

Mr Jahandad asked teachers to prepare students well for examinations and thus, checking cheating.

He said teachers should play the due effective role in eliminating the use of unfair means in examinations and thus, contributing to the successful achievement of education-related goals.TERRORIST HELD: The police on Friday arrested a suspected terrorist during a raid on his hideout in Landiwah village here.

A police official said the arrest of Mohammad Sameen was made on a tip-off.

He said the policemen were backed by the Elite Force commandos and armoured personnel carrier vehicles in the raid.

The official said the police faced no resistance during the arrest of the suspected terrorist, who wanted for murders, murder bids, drug trafficking, attacks on police and other terrorist cases. He said several wanted men were also taken into custody.
