CS stresses eradication of polio

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Secretary Shoaib Mir has said that each member of society has to play their role for eradicating polio that could paralyse generations.

During a visit to the Polio Emergency Centre on Friday, he said the provincial government was working actively for the eradication of the virus by achieving major targets in this regard.

He praised the performance of the institutions involved in curbing polio and said it was due to the untiring efforts of all the volunteers, security personnel and organisations that Balochistan had achieved success in controlling the virus.

He said the war against polio carried out by the frontline volunteers and people belonging to various segments of society had strengthened the resolve of the government. He said the role of religious scholars and local bodies representatives was all the more important in this regard.

The official asked the authorities concerned to perform their duties with utmost honesty for the eradication of poliovirus, warning that no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
