Keen contests on the cards in Sindh golf

KARACHI: A keen contest in on card not only in the main event but also in seniors when the 17th Sindh Amateur Golf Championship tees-off at the Karachi Golf Club (KGC) on Friday.

The main event will be played on the red and yellow courses.

All the top amateurs of the country have entered the event which is a ranking competition of the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) calendar.

Notable participants include defending champion Zohaib Asif, Waseem Rana, Nadeem Aslam, Taimur Khan, Ahmed Baig and M. Rehman.

A sizeable number of golfers have come from upcountry.

While the amateurs play 54-hole, juniors, seniors and ladies will play 36-hole. The veterans will play over 18-holes, nine on Saturday and as many on Sunday.

The eminent seniors include Sohail Rana, Umer Farooq, Omar Bangash, retired Brig Ayaz Peer, retired Col Mansoor Akram, retired Brig Aftab A. Khan, and the SGA president and an avid golfer Asad I. A. Khan and Ahmed Kamil Siddiqui.

The senior category is expanding and the event will be exciting to watch.

Meanwhile, a good number of players have entered including 46 amateurs, 32 seniors and 26 juniors.
