MoU signed

MINGORA: History and archaeology experts here on Wednesday welcomed signing of memorandum of understanding between Government Postgraduate Jahanzeb College and Italian Archaeological Mission in Pakistan.

The MoU was signed during a ceremony at the history department of the college. A large number of students of history and archaeology, teachers and culture activists attended the ceremony.

The MoU is aimed at mutual cooperation in the field of archaeology, history, research, publications and other relevant issues between the college and the archaeological mission.

The Italian Archaeological Mission has been working in Swat since 1955 while Jahanzeb College was set up by the last ruler of the former Swat state Miangul Jahanzeb alias Wali Sahib in 1952.

Dr Luca Maria Olivieri, the director of the mission, said that both the institutions had worked informally in the field of history and archaeology in the past but after of the MoU both of them were tied together in formal collaboration.
