10 held in Dir operation against illegal money changers

TIMERGARA: The Federal Investigation Agency and local police launched an operation against illegal money changers and arrested 10 dealers here on Monday.

A raiding team led by DSP Fakhr-i-Alam paid surprise visit to various markets in Timergara and took 10 dealers into custody. The raiding team recovered Rs500,000 from their possession.

The arrested dealers were sent to the lockup of Timergara police station. District Police Officer Kashif Zulfiqar told journalists that the operation was part of National Action Plan.

He said that raids would be carried out in other markets of the district and dealers involved in illegal currency exchange would be dealt with iron hand. He said that local people working abroad should send money through banks and other legal means.

KILLED: A youth identified as Asad Khan was shot dead by unidentified persons in Darbar area in the limits of Chakdara police station on Monday.

The local people said that the deceased, a resident of Sarai Bala Talash, had gone to Darbar where he was shot dead. They said that the deceased’s family had a blood feud. Father of the deceased had been in jail on the charge of murder.

PRIZES: The district volleyball tournament concluded at Timergara Rest House Ground that was won by Paradise Club Kitiari by defeating Yasin Club Khungi in the final match.

Provincial Minister for Finance Muzaffar Said was chief guest on the occasion. He distributed trophies, shields and cash prizes among the winner, runner up teams and best players of the tournament that lasted for three weeks. A total of 24 clubs took part in the tournament.

The minister also announced Rs50,000 for the organising committee of the tournament while a businessman Rehmanullah announced Rs10,000 for winner and Rs 5,000 for runner up team.

CARDS: The nazims and naib nazims of Adenzai village councils lauded MPA Bakht Baidar Khan for providing ‘Sehat Sahulat Cards’ to the poor people of the area.

They were addressing a meeting in Chakdara. Nazim Abdul Rehman chaired the meeting. Nazims and naib nazims of 25 village councils attended the meeting. They demanded of provincial government to include them in the process of cards distribution process.
