CM’s speech video record sought

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday sought video record of a speech by the Punjab chief minister that allegedly carried derogatory remarks against army generals and judges.

A citizen, Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi, filed a writ petition seeking disqualification of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif pleading that during his speech on the International Women Day function he called for accountability of judges and army generals.

The petitioner argued that the statement of the chief minister amounted to scandalising the institutions. He asked the court to disqualify the chief minister.

Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh asked the petitioner to submit video record of alleged derogatory speech by the chief minister. Further hearing was adjourned till April 26.
