‘Q’ moves resolution in PA against profane material

LAHORE: The PML-Q has submitted a resolution to the Punjab Assembly against profane material against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and other sacred personalities of Islam on social media.

PML-Q MPAs Sardar Vickas Hassan Mokal, Aamir Sultan Cheema and Khadeeja Umar filed the resolution in the assembly here on Saturday.

The MPAs said they had submitted the resolution on the direction of Chaudhry Shujaat Husain, Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis Elahi.

The resolution says those insulting Islam and sacred personalities are not only hurting sentiments of Muslims but also intent to create the law and order situation in the country. The government should take immediate action against those involved in this evil act.

It says the section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) has been inducted for protection of these sacred personalities and teachings of Islam whereas in the recent days some unwise are resorting to insulting the teachings of Islam in general and the Prophet Muhammad, his companions and Ahle Bait in particular for spreading their evil designs.

“While our constitution gives right of all kinds of freedom of expression, it certainly does not allow insult of all sacred personalities. Our law enforcing agencies and the government machinery seem reluctant to take any legal action against these evildoers and their facilitators who are committing blasphemy,” it says and demands the federal government to perform its constitutional duty in this regard.
