DFID team visits diabetes control camp in Haripur

PESHAWAR: A three-member delegation from UK Department for International Development (DFID) paid a visit to one of the community awareness camps for diabetes control in Haripur district and interacted with the locals.

Led by Matt Carter from the DFID National School of Government International (NSGI), the delegation is reviewing the impacts of the Public Financial Management (PFM) and governance reforms introduced in KP through DFID funded Sub-National Governance Programme (SNG), according to a statement issued here.

Haripur District Nazim Adil Islam and deputy commissioner Tasleem Khan welcomed the delegation and presented them with honorary souvenirs.

“We are committed to reforms to impact lives of common citizens in a positive way. The support of DFID has been instrumental in this regard,” said Adil Islam.

The SNG Programme is a joint effort of the KP government and DFID for bringing improvements in core governance areas in the province.

Started in 2013, it has worked with the provincial and district governments to provide strategic level technical assistance in planning and PFM functional areas.

The main thrust in providing support to the government in these areas includes public finance reform, support to improved planning and budgeting at district level, strengthening service delivery monitoring through innovative technologies and dedicated units, the establishment of district delivery challenge funds and provision of technical assistance to local administrations in six districts namely Karak, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Nowshehra, Buner and Haripur.
