Wine shops across Sindh sealed, govt tells SHC

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Friday informed the Sindh High Court that all wine shops across the province were sealed in compliance with the court’s order.

A provincial government law officer submitted the compliance report of the director general (DG) of the excise and taxation department before a two-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.

The report said that all liquor shops throughout the province were sealed in compliance with its orders and the record regarding their sale and stock was taken into custody.

The bench on Thursday had directed the excise and taxation department’s DG to immediately seal all the liquor shops operating in violation of the Hudood Ordinance, 1979, and submit the compliance report.
