Windies batsman Dwayne Smith announces retirement from intl cricket

West Indies batsman Dwayne Smith announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday.

Smith, who is playing for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League, confirmed the decision before the start of the 22nd match of the season in Sharjah against the Karachi Kings, ESPN Cricinfo reported.

He has a batting career average of 18.57 and has played in 105 One Day Internationals, scoring 1,560 runs with a strike rate of 92.69.

Smith was part of three World T20 squads in 2007, 2012 and 2014, and two World Cup squads in 2007 and 2015. His last appearance for the Windies was at the 2015 World Cup.

Over the last few years, Smith has played for the NatWest Blast, Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League and the PSL.
