Wagah attack ‘facilitator’ denied bail

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday denied bail to an alleged facilitator of the 2014 Wagah Border suicide attack.

Lawyer of the suspect, Shafiq, argued before the court that police arrested his client 10 months after the suicide attack. He said police failed to make any recovery from the suspect and could not produce even a single evidence against him. He argued that his client should be released on bail.

Opposing the arguments of the defence counsel, a deputy prosecutor told the court that the suspect was arrested on the identification by an eyewitness of the suicide attack. He said the suspect was also allegedly involved in a number of terrorism cases. After hearing both sides, the court dismissed the bail petition of the suspect.
