LAHORE: Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmad Khwaja has asked the ACE to exercise utmost care while charge sheeting the accused to ensure that no innocent be paying the price due to establishment officials’ carelessness.

Mr Khwaja was speaking at the ACE headquarters after inaugurating the recently established Complaint Cell and Reception Desk.

Mr Khwaja said the establishment should, however, deal the corrupt elements with an iron hand. He said the Punjab government would protect “honest government officials”.

Earlier, ACE Director-General retired Brig Muzaffar Ali Ranjha briefed the additional chief secretary about the technical training of the human resource deployed in the establishment along with the proposed reorganisation plan for curbing the corrupt elements more effectively.

For the first time, Brig Ranjha said the intake had been overtaken during the present regime as the disposal rate of anti-corruption cases exceeded the intake of under investigation inquiries per month. This target has been achieved through timely completion of under investigation as well as pending inquiries, he said.
