Explosives seized in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD: Around 80 kilograms of exp­losive material was seized by police during a raid in Bagh district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

The raid was conducted on a tip-off on a rented house in Nomanpura village where three persons, belonging to Malakand Agency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were residing, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bagh Kamran Ali told Dawn.

The police arrested Raees Gul and Muslim Khan while the third suspect, Abdullah Khan, managed to escape.

The SSP said 52 kilograms of explosive material was in “ready condition” while the rest was in raw form.

“As of now, it’s premature to confirm whether the haul was stashed for any terrorist activity. The exact situation will become clarify once the investigation is complete,” he said. The suspects were book­ed under Section 5 of the Explosives Act and Sec­tion 15 of the Arms Ordi­nance and they would be presented in court on Mon­day.
