— Dawn

BAHAWALPUR: The 63rd Founder’s Day of Sadiq Public School (SPS) was held here on Friday.

Delivering his presidential address at a function, Minister of State for Interior and Professional Training Baleeghur Rehman reminded the students of the vision of the Quaid-i-Azam of discipline, faith and unity to achieve objects of their education.

He gave students a wake-up call to work hard for the brighter future of Pakistan.

The minister exhorted them to always have high aims to achieve high standards of progress.

Condemning a fresh wave of terrorism in the country, he claimed the government had foiled the nefarious designs of anti-state elements in the past and would again thwart their evil plan.

Mr Baleegh, a former Sadiqian, expressed satisfaction over improvements in the SPS saying it was playing a pivotal role in the character-building of students.

He asked students to actively participate in extra-curriculum activities along with special attention on their studies.

The minister paid tribute to the vision of the late Bahawalpur Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi for establishing the SPS 63 years back.

He assured the school administration of providing funds for the construction of a hostel building.

The minister gave away medals, academic and literary prizes to boy and girl students.

Earlier, SPS Principal Prof Nauman Ahmed Qureshi in his welcome address traced the history of the school and shed light on the success stories of SPS students.

He said the SPS students had always won laurels in the results of Cambridge and the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) and earned 18 and 17 gold and silver medals, respectively, in addition to 57 prizes last year.
