Man in double murder case arrested after 15 years

CHINIOT: The Muhammadwala police arrested after about 15 years an absconder involved in a double murder case on Sunday.

SHO Wasim Afzal said that absconder Muhammad Iqbal of Kurriwala, Jhang district, was arrested after a raid on a house in Shadipur village where he was planning to kill Muhammad Panah, the last member of his rival family.

He said the arrested absconder had an enmity with the family of Ahmad Bukhsh in Qadirpur village.

The SHO said both families had been at daggers drawn since decades and had killed several people of each other.

He said the arrested absconder had first killed Muhammad Bukhsh in 1994 and then his son Muhammad Aslam in 2002.

The SHO said the absconder’s next victim was Aslam’s brother Muhammad Akram who was murdered in 2006 in Shadipur village.

On the direction of the Chiniot DPO to arrest the absconder, the Muhammadwala SHO traced the mobile phone number of the absconder and started tracking his location from its data.

It was revealed that the absconder was working as a van driver, picking and dropping passengers from Mianwali, Muzaffargarh and some south Punjab districts.

The SHO said the absconder had come to Shadipura village to kill the complainant of the double murder case when he was traced and arrested.
