Nefarious agenda of external forces to be foiled: Muqam

PESHAWAR: Condemning the fresh wave of terrorism in the country, PML-N senior vice-president Amir Muqam has described it as a conspiracy hatched by external forces to destabilise Pakistan, saying that the enemies would not succeed in their nefarious agenda.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Saturday, Mr Muqam, who is adviser to the prime minister, said that the federal government was determined to restore peace and get the nation rid of the menace of terrorism. He said that the security forces and people had rendered matchless sacrifices for peace.

On this occasion, Pakistan Muslim League-Q Peshawar district president Azmat Khan Daudzai joined PML-N along with his supporters.

PML-N leader says terror attacks aimed at hindering country’s development

Mr Muqam said that the anti-state elements were against the rapid economic growth, stability and the fast-track energy projects initiated in the country. He blamed India and Afghanistan for creating instability in the country. He called for unity to foil the nefarious designs of the anti-state elements.

The PML-N leader said that the security forces and people were fully united and were in a high spirit to combat terrorism. He condemned the terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Quetta and described the bloodshed as an extremely cowardly act on the part of the planners.

These attacks, he said, were aimed at hindering the development and progress in the country, but such attempts would not succeed rather the government was determined to eliminate the terrorists once and for all.

Besides, he said that the effective continuation of the military courts as well as civil courts would help control the menace of terrorism. He said that military courts were established after the deadly terrorist attack on the Army Public School, Peshawar.

About the performance of PTI-led provincial government, the PML-N leader said that there was a clear contradiction between the words and deeds of PTI chief Imran Khan who was bent on wasting precious time of the nation. He said that the PTI chief was in the habit of crying against corruption, but he was least bothered to control the menace in KP. He said that despite passage of one month the provincial government had failed to appoint new director general of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission.

“It is ironic to note that Imran Khan is forcing judiciary to take action on his will, but the PTI government itself has defied court orders by converting the residential locality of University Town, Peshawar, into a commercial area,” he claimed.

Mr Muqam said both Mr Khan and JI chief Sirajul Haq were trying to take cover behind the Supreme Court in the Panama case, but they would not succeed in getting their objectives.

The PML-N leader said that PTI had virtually failed to bring change during its rule in the province so far. He said that instead of bringing reforms in KP the PTI chief had focused on Punjab to increase his vote bank.

He said that Mr Khan during his pre-election speeches had promised not to avail of loans from foreign donors, but the PTI-led government was now trying to launch a metro bus project in Peshawar with foreign funds. He claimed that the energy crisis would come to an end in the country by end of 2018.
