Poor varsity buses

LAST week Shaista Memon, a final year Physics Department student of the University of Sindh, was hit and badly injured by a university bus near the university’s Zero Point. She was shifted to LUMS Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Shaista was not the first student to perish in an accident at this spot.

More than 5,000 students from Mehran University, LUMS and Sindh University gathered at Zero Point and different places along the Coastal Highway to protest against the university administration.

The protesting students demanded action against the university administration particularly its transport management section. They also wanted a probe in the utilisation of funds spent on university buses and better transport facilities.
