Three troops killed in LoC firing

MUZAFFARABAD: Three army soldiers succumbed to injuries on Monday after being shot at from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Thoob sector of Barnala tehsil in the southern Bhimber district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

A few months back, seven soldiers were killed in cross-LoC firing in the same sector. “Naik Ghulam Rasool, Naik Imran Zafar and Sepoy Imam Bukhsh, who were critically injured at the Line of Control embraced shahadat,” said the ISPR, the military’s public relations wing, in a statement.

It said that Pakistani troops had effectively responded to the unprovoked firing, and added that there were reports that Indian soldiers had also suffered casualties in retaliatory fire.
