Woman shot dead in Pindi

RAWALPINDI: A woman was gunned down in Westridge on Friday, police said.

The murder came to light when her brother-in-law came to her house and found her lying in a pool of blood.

Later, he informed his brother, who had gone for prayers, who then called the police.

Quoting the brother-in-law of the deceased, police said one of his cousins visited her in the absence of Farzand Ali, but said it would be too early to involve anybody in the murder.

Meanwhile, on Thursday night, a security guard was shot and injured by two robbers when he challenged them at the gate of Defence Housing Authority Phase I Morgah.

Two robbers were fleeing on a motorcycle after snatching cash from a pedestrian outside an ATM.

The victim sought help of the DHA security staff who tried to intercept the fleeing robbers, but one of the robbers opened fire on them injuring one of the guards.

The robbers managed to disappear, taking advantage of the dark.

The injured security guard was shifted to hospital where he was stated to be in a stable condition.
