Teaching of Holy Quran being made compulsory
PESHAWAR: The Elementary and Secondary Education (E&SE) Department has decided to make the teaching of Holy Quran compulsory in all the public and private schools of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a statement issued here, the E&SE Department plans to start teaching of the Holy Quran (Nazra) as a compulsory subject from grade-1 to 5th and translation of the Holy Quran from grade 6th to 10th for Muslim students both in the government and private schools.
It said that the summary in this connection had been approved by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for placement before the provincial cabinet. It said that the decision would be implemented in the forthcoming educational session.
