Karak uplift body’s workers unpaid for four months

KARAK: The employees of Karak Development Authority (KDA) have demanded of the provincial government to announce special grant for the financially weak entity so it could pay them their salary withheld for last four months.

Talking to media persons here on Tuesday, they said the authority was on the verge of bankruptcy as it could not even pay the salary to its employees. They added that due to nonpayment of salary, it was becoming difficult for their families to make both ends meet. They alleged that due to wrong policies, the financially stable KDA had been pushed towards bankruptcy.

They threatened to protest if the government did not pay heed to their demand.

Meanwhile, the traders of Karak city have demanded of the district government to remove the encroachments on the street leading to the old bazaar. Speaking at a meeting on Tuesday, the traders said the artery had been practically occupied by the traders and small-time vendors, causing hardship to pedestrians and motorists.

They said that they had brought the issue in the notice of the Tehsil Municipal Administration, Karak, time and again, but to no avail.

The traders said provision of municipal services to the people was the basic responsibility of TMA, but it was shirking its duty.
