Eight robbery suspects arrested

ISLAMABAD: The capital police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested eight people suspected of involvement in theft, and recovered valuables worth Rs13 million, police said on Tuesday.

F-6/1 resident Shehzad Sadan lodged a complaint with the Kohsar police stating that he parked his vehicle outside his home and later found that one of the vehicle’s windows had been broken and foreign currency, gold jewellery, a chequebook, his CNIC and other items kept in the car were missing. A case was lodged on Dec 14, 2016.

Aurangzeb Khan Hoti from F-8/2 filed a complaint with Margalla police on Sept 19, 2015, stating that his home was robbed of gold ornaments by two domestic employees, police said.

They said two teams were constituted within the CIA which successfully traced suspects and arrested them. The police recovered Rs3.3 million worth of foreign currency, Rs1.9 million worth of gold ornaments, a rental car and other stolen items from suspects while investigating Mr Sadan’s case.

After investigating Mr Khan’s case, they said the police recovered gold ornaments with diamonds worth Rs7.5 million and Rs600,000 in cash.

The police handed over the recovered valuables to their owners following directions from the concerned court, they said.
