Tribute paid to Noorani

HARIPUR, Dec 22: A reference was held in memory of MMA’s former president the late Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani at Darul Uloom Islamia Rehmania here on Sunday.

Speakers paid rich tributes to the religious scholar, saying he stood like a rock in the face of anti-Islam and undemocratic forces and struggled for the formation of a just society.

NWFP’s former chief minister and PML-N leader Pir Sabir Shah said that the Maulana had a remarkable contribution to the struggle for the creation of Pakistan.

He always resisted the rulers’ undemocratic moves and upheld the unanimous Constitution of 1973, the PML-N leader said.

Another ex-CM Raja Sikandar Zaman also paid homage to the late politician.

He said the contribution of Maulana Noorani to the freedom movement was great, and he also fought for the supremacy of the constitution and parliament.
