LAKKI MARWAT: Lakki District Nazim Ishfaq Ahmad Khan Meenakhel has said his government would resolve problems of prisoners by ensuring provision of basic facilities to them.

He expressed theses views during a visit to the district jail in Lakki city on Friday.

The district nazim went to different barracks and listened to the problems and complaints of the prisoners. He also inspected the kitchen and dispensary of the jail.

Several prisoners complained about excessive electricity loadshedding and water shortage. A prisoner told the nazim that the jail dispensary lacked medicines.

Mr Meenakhel assured the prisoners that the district government would install two pumps in the jail to cope with water shortage.

He directed the district health officer to provide sufficient medicines to the dispensary.

He also promised to take up the matter of provision of natural gas facility to the jail. The district nazim expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements at the jail.

OUTLAWS ARRESTED: Police claimed to have arrested six outlaws during surprise raids in Wanda Arsala and Pezu localities.

A police official told Dawn on Saturday that the raids were carried out on information about the presence of outlaws in the rural localities.

He said the personnel of Elite Force and Anti-Terror Squad also assisted the police in arrest of the wanted criminals who included Mohammad Rehman alias Talaibi, Umar Khan alias Amri, Mohammad Ali, Abdul Hameed Khan, Ghulam Illahi and Sardar.

KHATME QURAN: The district boy scouts association held Khatm-i-Quran function at Government High School Mela Shahabkhel near Lakki city on Saturday.

Boy scouts, students and teachers participated.

Deputy district education officer Ikramullah Khan and ADO sports Nisar Mohammad were also in attendance.

On the occasion, Ikramullah Khan called upon the school heads to hold scouting activities at their respective institutions regularly and ensure active participation of boy scouts in them.
