Chinese help?

THIS refers to the news report ‘NAB chief stresses Chinese help to end corruption’ (Nov 12). This is the second time the NAB chairman has visited China in the past few months ostensibly to take lessons from the Chinese in fighting corruption.

It seems we are so poorly educated and intellectually bankrupt that we have to seek advice and guidance from China on tackling our internal matters.

There cannot be a more bizarre decision than this. It speaks volumes of the NAB’s incompetence and helplessness in carrying out its mandated functions.

When NAB itself is corrupt and politicised, how can it work independently and ensure neutrality. And how can the Chinese, who have zero tolerance for graft in their own country because their leaders are clean, assist us in this environment?

One solution could be that we outsource the entire governance to China for a period of 25 years until we become mature enough.

We are now being counted among such nations as Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, Congo, etc., in terms of graft perception.
