Info minister visits Azhar Jafri’s kin

LAHORE: State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday visited the residence of deceased award-winning photojournalist Azhar Jafri and condoled with his family.

Mr Jafri had passed away here on Thursday due to a cardiac arrest. He was 63.

The state minister praised the work of Mr Jafri and said the country had lost a photojournalist who was a class of his own. She also keenly looked at a collection of Mr Jafri’s famous pictures.

She assured the family that the government would organise an exhibition of Mr Jafri’s work at the Pakistan National Council of Arts gallery in Islamabad or Lahore.

Marriyum also visited the residences of late PPP leader Jehangir Badar and noted singer A Nayyar and condoled with their families. She paid tribute to Mr Badar and Mr Nayyar for the services they had rendered for democracy and music, respectively.
