Four held for minting money through fake BISP messages

TOBA TEK SINGH: Nawan Lahore police arrested four gangsters of a nine-member gang on Wednesday who would con the mobile phone users into sending them cash for Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) grants messages.

Police said Akram, Allah Rakha, Hanif and Aslam were arrested in Chak 242-JB, Ladhar, from where they were sending text messages to random mobile phone users promising them BISP grants worth Rs25,000 to Rs30,000.

They would demand a few thousand rupees from the beneficiary through mobile banking for processing their cases.

The arrested people told police that during the raid, their five other accomplices -- Muhammad Hamza, Bahader Ali, Muhammad Tariq, Muhammad Ismail and Farooq Ahmad -- had fled the scene.

Police seized several mobile phone sets from them.

TEACHER: Executive District Officer Syed Muhammad Waheeduddin terminated on Wednesday from service Government High School, Chak 683/24-GB, teacher Asjad Taimoor.

He had given an application for ex-Pakistan leave several months ago and then disappeared without the approval of his request.
