PML(N)-PTI showdown

IMRAN Khan has announced he will lock down Islamabad on Oct 30 and he will do it because he is reluctant to withdraw from what he utters as seen in the past. The government must not take it lightly as something can happen once its supporters are flocked in the federal capital. This time he will stay in the centre of power until the premier steps down or present himself for accountability in the Panamagate. The situation may take a serious turn as is indicated by verbal clashes going on between the government and PTI stalwarts.

The current political scenario is not, prima facie, in the interest of the country, as escalation with India exists on the eastern border following Indian forces’ atrocities in held-Kashmir. The military is engaged in keeping a watchful eye on the LoC and working boundary to avert any act of aggression from across the border.

In this situation it will be advisable for the PML-N government to negotiate with the PTI leadership to find a a peaceful solution to the crisis. Heaven will not fall if the prime minister presents himself for accountability and forms a judicial commission to investigate the notorious graft scam. Such a move will raise his stature in the country and enhance his popularity among the people. He himself is deadly against corruption for it was he who filed graft cases against former president Asif Ali Zardari in the ‘90s. If the prime minister surrenders himself for accountability, it will end the Panama papers saga and save the country from any possible disaster.
