HYDERABAD: Rangers conducted a search inside a madressah belonging to the Deobandi school of thought here on Sunday.

Maulana Taj Mohammad Nahiyoon, a leader of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl, said that Rangers personnel visited the seminary and asked Maulana Ismail Pathan, the caretaker, some questions. But they did not arrest anyone nor seized anything.

Maulana Pathan told Dawn that Rangers sought details of the students, which would be provided to them. He said that he was told that strict surveillance should be made in the seminary and added that perhaps it was part of Muharram-related security measures.

Earlier, Rangers personnel conducted searches in trains coming from Punjab at Hyderabad railway station.
