Aahil, Hareem clinch triple crowns in Sindh TT

KARACHI: Promising Aahil Shah and Hareem Anwer justified their credentials while landing the men’s and women’s singles titles to complete triple crowns in the Sindh Table Tennis Championships which concluded at the Sindh Sports Board (SSB) sports complex on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Aahil, who is a former Karachi No 1, carved out 8-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-3, 15-13 victory over fighting Bilal Tariq in the final to add the men’s singles title to his tally and complete a rare feat.

Earlier, he helped Karachi win the men’s team event besides the men’s doubles with Bilal.

Fresh from her triumph in the women’s team event and women’s doubles, Hareem, faced little resistance while getting the better of Noureen Farhan 4-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-5 to clinch the women’s singles title.

Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Mohammad Bukhsh Khan Meher, who graced the occasion, gave away the prizes.

Also present on the occasion were Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) president S. M. Sibtain, sports consultant Sindh government Raziq H. Rabbani, Sindh Table Tennis Association (STTA) president Azher Khurshid and STTA secretary Saleem Ahmed.

Final results:

Men’s singles: Aahil Shah bt Bilal Tariq (8-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-3, 15-13).

Women’s singles: Hareem Anwer bt Noureen Farhan (4-1 1, 11-5, 11-8, 11-5).
