Joint cooperation meeting on CPEC in November

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China on Tuesday decided to hold the sixth Joint Cooperation Committee meeting during the last week of November to take stock of projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

This was decided during a meeting between Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Vice Chairman of Chinese National Development and Reform Commission, Wang Xiaotao, in Beijing.

The two sides agreed that Gwadar, transport and industrial cooperation working groups would meet before the next joint committee meeting so that their recommendations could be submitted before the committee.

The two countries further agreed they would make appropriate arrangements for holding workshops with experts in the identified areas.

Mr Iqbal was accompanied by Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique who led the railway ministry’s delegation to China.

During the meeting Mr Xiaotao said work on CPEC projects has seen positive progress over the past three years.
