CM, JUI-F leaders discuss bill on seminaries

KARACHI: A six-member delegation of the Jamiat Ulema-i- Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) called on Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah at CM House on Tuesday and discussed, among other issues, the Sindh government’s bill on regulation of madressahs in the province, which is expected to be tabled during the current session of the provincial assembly, officials in the government said.

The delegation was led by chairman of the standing committee of the National Assembly on States and Frontier Regions Maulana Mohammad Jamaluddin and leader of the opposition in the Balochistan Assembly Maulana Abdul Wassay.

Sources privy to the meeting said the primary point of discussion at the meeting was the coming madressah bill in which the Sindh government has promised to streamline seminaries for which it sought cooperation of the religious scholars.

The chief minister had said last month that his government would provide all support to the seminaries in the province needed for that matter, expecting the same from their side.
