Rangers review security measures for Muharram
KARACHI: Security arrangements for the month of Muharram were reviewed at a meeting held at the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, headquarters on Saturday.
Rangers director-general Maj Gen Bilal Akbar chaired the meeting which was attended by senior officers of the paramilitary force, said an official statement.
“The meeting discussed strategy to deal with any threat during the approaching month. The meeting also decided to take immediate action under the anti-terrorism act to maintain foolproof security during the month.
“The meeting appealed to clerics to cooperate with the law-enforcement agencies for peace during Muharram and play their role for sectarian harmony and brotherhood during the month,” added the statement.
The paramilitary force vowed to keep strict check on hate speeches and distribution of hate literature during Muharram.
