Qadir lauds Sarfraz

ISLAMABAD: Terming Sarfraz Ahmed a match winner and team leader, leg-spin legend Abdul Qadir believes Pakistan under the wicket-keeper will do well in the Twenty20 series against West Indies.

Qadir wished good luck to the national side which will lock horns with the Carlos Brathwaite-captained squad in a three-match series starting in Dubai on Friday.

“Sarfraz is a match winner who just focuses on his game. He is a team leader too,” Qadir said, adding Pakistan’s T20 cricket will progress under the wicket-keeper’s captaincy.

Commenting on Afridi, Qadir reckoned if the national selectors didn’t have the ex-T20 skipper in their plan sheets they should clearly convey the same to him beforehand.

Qadir insisted senior players like Shoaib Malik and others who perform once in a blue moon should be dropped permanently from the national team and instead promising youngsters should be given chances.

“If we somehow are to lose while having the [under-performing] seniors in the team then why not include youngsters and groom them for future,” underlined Qadir.
