MQM's Farooq Sattar discharged from hospital

KARACHI: Senior MQM leader Farooq Sattar was discharged from hospital on Wednesday after doctors termed his condition as stable and satisfactory.

"I am thankful to God and the prayers of my well wishers for my speedy recovery," said Sattar while speaking to media persons.

Doctors have advised the MQM leader to rest for a few days. Sattar said he would "rest as much as possible but political activities will continue as my house serves as the temporary party headquarters".

"It was an accident, and we should disregard any conspiracy theories regarding it," added the party leader.

Sattar also said he prays for the speedy recovery of all those who were injured alongside him in the car crash.

The MQM leader also thanked all the political parties for their well wishes.

Sattar and three others suffered injuries when their speeding vehicle met a road accident on Karachi-Hyderabad highway near Nooriabad area earlier this week.

The MQM leader was on his way back from Hyderabad after attending political meetings there. He suffered injuries on his shoulders and back.

The accident occurred when the speeding vehicle reportedly hit a barrier erected on Karachi-Hyderabad highway to mark an under-construction area.

The other three persons, who suffered serious injuries in the road accident, were the police guards who were sitting in the back portion of the double-cabin vehicle.

Poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving are cited as common reasons behind accidents in Pakistan. Thousands of people are killed in road accidents every year.
