‘Miracles of mly justice’

THIS is apropos Faisal Siddiqi’s article ‘Miracles of military justice’ (Sept 5). Since every coin has two sides, the writer, with all due respect, dwelt only on the the negative side of the military courts. One could not agree more with him when he said some grey areas that needed to be addressed for fair trials.

On the other side, the writer missed its significance and its positive aspect completely, as these courts were established in the aftermath of the APS attack and indeed were a hard pill to swallow, but we had no alternative as this was the need of the hour then.

So far, it has sentenced some hard-core and jet-black terrorists to death, including those who were involved in the APS carnage. That is indeed a triumph and has brought relief to the shuhadaa families and the people of Pakistan.

I believe it is time the government made all-out efforts to strengthen our civil judiciary by introducing reforms that are aimed at fast-tracking the prosecution of cases because justice delayed is justice denied.
