Pesco claims increase in recovery of dues

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company has claimed to have succeeded in reducing line losses and increasing recovery of dues during the current month.

Briefing the board of directors at Wapda House here on Friday, Pesco chief executive officer Anwarul Haq Yousufzai said that a campaign had been initiated for recovery of dues, controlling line losses and removal of illegal connections, which was very successful so far.

The Pesco BoD’s 110th meeting was presided over by its chairman Malik Mohammad Asad wherein minutes of the previous meeting were approved after detailed discussions.

Mr Yousufzai said that the employees had to be efficient in resolving consumers’ complaints to minimise issues. He also urged the consumers to remove illegal connections so they could benefit from the relief given in loadshedding on the pattern of ‘good areas’ where recovery was satisfactory.

The BoD’s meeting discussed the measures taken to make Pesco a profitable entity. It was stated that due to the board’s guidance Pesco succeeded to reduce line losses, while recovery had been increased.

Mr Asad appreciated improvement in recovery and reduction in line losses and said that the Pesco staff had to put the company on the path of profitability.

On this occasion, the BoD approved one-month salary for Pesco employees as bonus.

The BoD approved purchase of 1,168 distribution transformers of 200KVA and 9,765 steel structures.

It directed for 100 per cent implementation of photo meter reading.
