He said the police, which had recently carried out a search operation in the area, soon reached Malikabad and found two bombs concealed in two pressure cookers during a search of a deserted house. “We had also recovered a bomb from the same area on Aug 25,” he recalled.

Mr Iqbal said soon after recovery of the bombs, BDS staff was called to defuse the bombs to avoid any loss of life, he said, adding the policy by recovery and defusing the bombs had successfully foiled the planning of the terrorists to carry out sabotage attempts in the district.

He said the bombs weighed five kilogramme each.

Meanwhile, police arrested 36 suspects from the region in a pre-dawn strike and search operation. Police said all the arrested people had been shifted to secret locations where they would undergo interrogations and those proved innocent would be set free.
