Alpuri tehsil council seeks uplift funds, civic services

SHANGLA: Members of Alpuri Tehsil Council have demanded of the provincial local government authorities to ensure immediate provision of development funds and municipal services in the bazaars of the tehsil.

The demand was made during a meeting on Monday chaired by convener Shaukat Ali.

Both the treasury and opposition councillors demanded of tehsil nazim Tahir Khan and other concerned authorities to ensure municipal services in Bisham city, Karora, Bely Baba, Chakesar, Shahpur and Maira.

Councillor Javed Khan from Damorai area said due to lack of funds with tehsil council many development projects were delayed.

“We got only Rs90 million out of Rs190 million of the previous budget. Now, we have got the first instalment of the 2016-17 budget, which will be passed in next few days from the council.

If the government does not provide funds on time then we won’t be able to come up to the expectations of our voters,” he said.

Another councillor Arif Khan said Opal union council of Karora was worst hit by floods in April, but no rehabilitation work was started as yet.

He said the district administration received Rs530 million for rehabilitation, but the amount was yet to be spent on the flood-hit areas.

Maulana Fazal Khaliq said due to absence of any civic services garbage dumps littered public places in Bisham, Chakesar and other parts of Alpuri, which posed health hazards to people.

He said TMA staff was limited to only district headquarters, Alpuri.

Tehsil nazim Tahir Khan assured that the allocated funds would be utilised on development of tehsil with consensus of all the councillors, irrespective of party affiliations.

He assured that efforts were under way to hire TMA services for major bazaars of the tehsil.
