PTF high performance juniors camp from Sept 1

KARACHI: Under the umbrella of Pakistan Tennis Federation’s Junior Develo­pment Program (JDP), a high performance junior coaching camp for boys is scheduled to be held from Sept 1-30 at the Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex clay courts in Islamabad.

Davis Cupper and qualified coach Shahzad Khan will supervise the coaching camp.

It is pertinent to mention that PTF had initiated the Junior Development program from Jan 1, 2015 and a series of junior camps were organised at Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Islamabad during this perio which were supervised by Rashid Malik, Hameedul Haq, Kamran Khalil, Jalil Khan, Shahzad Khan , Wakeel Khan, Irfanullah Khan and other notable ex-players and officials.

PTF has also requested Pakistan Army to arrange the services of an army physical trainer for Pakistan tennis on regular basis who have basic know how of tennis physical training requirements and the PTF will soon be holding camps at various tennis centers of the country.

Meanwhile, the PTF has asked all provincial tennis associations and federal tennis bodies to nominate two junior players of 14-17 years of age, for the camp. Priority shall be given to current higher ranked players. Besides coaching, the PTF will provide players accommodation at the PTF Complex while travelling and meals shall be the responsibility of players and the respective provincial associations.
