Minorities enjoy equal rights: governor

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai has said that the Constitution ensures equal rights for minorities living in the country.

Talking to a 20-member delegation of the Christian community headed by Pastor Shehzad Siddique who called on him at Governor House on Monday, he said the present government was taking practical steps for protection of minorities rights.

He said that all communities had been playing their due role in the development of the country, adding that all Pakistanis enjoyed equal rights.

Minorities, he added, were given rights to elect their representatives in general elections on seats reserved for them in the national and provincial assemblies.

Parliamentarians elected from general seats had also been assigned tasks to solve problems of minorities, the governor added.
