Lawyers announce court boycott

PESHAWAR: In order to express solidarity with the victims of Quetta bombing, the legal fraternity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced complete boycott of the courts to participate in the scheduled protest demonstration outside the Parliament House in Islamabad tomorrow (Monday).

The decision was taken at a meeting of Peshawar High Court Bar Association chaired by its President Muzzamil Khan Advocate. The association’s senior vice president Riaz Khalil Advocate, general secretary Yousuf Ali Advocate, press secretary Bilal Khan Khalil Advocate, secretary library Zia-ul-Hassan and joint secretary Asfandyar were also in attendance.

The meeting endorsed a call given by Pakistan Bar Council and decided that lawyers would not attend court proceedings on Monday and all of them would participate in the protest demonstration outside the parliament to express solidarity with the families of the lawyers who lost lives in the Quetta hospital bombing.
