Two Nadra officials arrested for issuing CNICs to foreigners

QUETTA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday arrested two officials of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).

The officials were arrested on charges of issuing Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) to foreign nationals.

“The crime circle of the agency conducted a raid in Alamdar road area of Quetta and picked up two officers for issuing identity cards to Afghan nationals,” said an FIA official.

The arrested offices were identified as Nisar Ali, intelligence officer Nadra and Manzoor Bugti, Assistant Director Nadra.

The FIA official added both officers has taken bribes from an Afghan National for issuance of identity cards to him.

In Balochistan, thousands of CNICs have been issued to foreigners especially Afghan nationals.

Sources in NADRA said thousands of CNICs have been blocked on suspicion of being issued to foreigners.

Most of the cards were blocked in Quetta, Killa Abdullah, Chaghi and other parts of Balochistan.
