Lahore Qalandars, Sydney Thunders sign contract, will play each other

KARACHI: Pakistan Super League's (PSL) Lahore-based franchise, Lahore Qalandars, signed a contract with Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Sydney Thunders which will allow the two to exchange academy facilities, training staff, and emerging players.

The contract allows Lahore Qalandars' emerging players to use Thunders' facilities.

Talking to DawnNews, Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana said: "The two franchises will compete in a few T20 matches ahead of PSL's second edition."

He added that the matches, amongst the emerging players of both franchises, will be held in Lahore and Dubai.

"The aspiring cricketers will not have to seek nationalities of developed cricketing nations for opportunities. All they have to do is to come to Qalandars and we will give them chances at competitive level," said Rana.

The Sydney Thunder are an Australian professional cricket team, competing in Australia's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition, the Big Bash League. The team's home ground is Sydney Showground Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park.
