Mall owners ‘hurl threats’ at CDA official

ISLAMABAD: The director Building Control, Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday approached the police for registration of a case against the owners of Al-Safa Gold Mall on charges of hurling threats on him, sources told Dawn.

In his complaint to the IG, the director, Shafi Mohammad Merwat, stated: “On July 28, the CDA personnel sealed Al-Safa Gold Mall, F-7 Markaz, Islamabad under my supervision due to building violations and non-payment of CDA dues under law.”

After they completed their job, the owners of the mall started threatening him in various ways, he stated in the complaint adding that “they were also trying to blackmail me.”

He expressed his apprehension that the owners would harm him, his family and his staff.

He requested the police to register his complaint against the owners of Al-Safa Gold Mall. He stated that the owners would be responsible for any harm to him, his family and staff.

The Aabpara police when contacted confirmed that they had received the complaint and legal action had been initiated.
