Three policemen arrested, booked for releasing suspect

SAHIWAL: Chak Badian police on Friday arrested and booked three police officials under the Police Order 2002 allegedly for being negligent​,​ taking bribe and releasing a suspect arrested for possessing drugs.

Chak Badian Head Constable Muhammad Habib, City police Constable Qamar Zaman and Constable Sajjad had arrested Faisal on Thursday morning for selling drugs and liquor in Chak Badian police precincts. He was arrested in the presence of residents of Chak Badian village.

However, the suspect was allegedly not taken to any police station and remained in a police mobile for around four hours and later released at Jamal Chowk, Pakpattan city.

Faisal’s alleged release after taking bribe was reported to District Police Officer (DPO) Kamran Yousaf, who deputed Chak Badian Station House Officer (SHO) Rana Baqir to investigate. The SHO reported that the three policemen released Fa​i​s​a​l by taking bribe. The DPO ordered they be arrested.

SHO Baqir while talking to Dawn confirmed the three police officials were in lock-u​​p and booked under Section 155/C of the Police Order 2002.

The police is reportedly sending ​the ​case to the anti-corruption department.
