Gang led by suspended constable busted

SAHIWAL: Pakpattan police arrested 13 suspects belonging to three gangs, the force claimed on Monday.

One of the gangs was allegedly led by a suspended police constable named Mahboob. Police recovered looted material worth Rs7.1 million, including 15 motorcycles, 21-tola gold, seven water pumps, mobile phones, cattle and cash.

This was stated by Headquarters Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shahida Noureen while talking to the media at the DPO office on Monday morning.

She claimed police arrested seven members of the Irfan alias Fahani gang who were said to be involved in street crimes in Green Town, Ghala Mandi and surrounding localities of district courts.

She claimed the gang after committing crimes took shelter in government residences of Irrigation Colony as Irfan’s elder brother was an employee of the irrigation department.

Police also arrested four members of Ashraf alias Ashi gang that was allegedly led by a former constable.

This gang used to hide in Railway Colony quarters, she claimed.

“Constable Mahboob is at large and police are conducting raids for his arrest,” the DSP further said.

She said City police arrested members of the Zaheer alias Zahree gang that was involved in motorcycle snatching in the city.

DSP Shahida told the media that station house officers of City police and Farid Town, Rana Nadeem and Chaudhry Afzal, played an active role in tracing out these gangs and their hideouts.
