72-inch line burst causes water shortage in city

KARACHI: The 72-inch diameter pipeline of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) burst at the Dhabeji pumping station on Sunday, causing water shortage in Karachi.

According to a KWSB official, the pipeline burst due to “back pressure following power outage”.

The KWSB staff had started repair work which was expected to be completed by Monday morning, he added.

The pipe bursting resulted in the shortage of 200 million gallons of water for the metropolis, he added.

The Dhabeji water station’s electricity was restored after a four-hour time.
